Comparing user profiles, roles, and permissions in SalesforceUpdated a year ago

Sometimes it's hard to tell how a user is getting (or not getting) certain permissions.  Is it coming from their user Profile?  Or a Permission Set?  Or maybe the Org-Wide defaults or Sharing Rules are preventing access?  Maybe the user is in a Role that makes half of the records invisible to them?

Here are two really nice (and free) tools that you can use to examine user permissions in Salesforce.

Crazy Compare for Salesforce
  1. Chrome extension
  2. I usually run this in a separate Chrome browser profile that I use only for this extension (just for security paranoia reasons)

User Access and Permissions Assistant
  1. SF managed package from Salesforce Labs
